ในตอนเริ่มเล่นเป็น  ผมมักจะได้รับคำชมเชยจากเพื่อนๆแทบทุกคร้้งถึงพัฒนาการ
เอาไว้โอกาสหน้า จะเล่าเรื่องนี้ให้อ่าน  เป็นเรื่องที่มีความสุข

ปกติแล้ว  ถ้าคนเราถนัดการเล่นเท้าไหน  เรามักจะมีนักเตะคนโปรดที่ถนัดการเล่นเท้านั้นๆและจะเลียนแบบลีลาคล้ายๆกัน    แน่นอนที่ผมชอบแม็กก้าก็เพราะสาเหตุนี้ล่ะ  (แต่พอมีอายุมากหน่อย ผมก็ลองเล่นด้วยเท้าซ้ายดู  ก็พอได้บ้าง)

ส่วนกัปตัน  เจอราดผมรู้จักและยิ่งขึ้นเรื่อยๆด้วยลีลาการเล่นอันเร่าร้อนและดุดันของเขาในเวลาลำดับถัดมา   

  

ร็อบบี้ ฟาวเลอร์  สแตน  คอลลีมอร์  เดวิด เจมส์ เจมส์มี่  แรดเเนปส์ พอล อินซ์ แพทริค แบร์เกอร์ เจสัน แม็คเกทเทียร์  นักเตะพวกนี้อยู่ในสมัยผม  แต่คนที่ผมชอบที่สุดคือ แม็กก้า  เวลาเพื่อนถามชอบนักเตะคนไหนมากที่สุด  ผมก็จะบอกชื่อเขาโดยไม่ลังเลเลย(แต่ความจริงแล้ว ก็ชอบหลายคนอยู่)

ต้องยอมรับว่า ผมไม่ใช่พวกคลั่งฟุตบอลขนาดที่จะไปซื้อหนังสือฟุตบอลมาอ่านทุกเดือน   ไม่ใช่คนประเภทไปตามหาของสะสมอย่างเช่นโปสเตอร์รูปนักเตะหรือผ้าพันคอทีมหรือเสื้อทีมขนาดนั้น  เพราะว่า มันแพงสำหรับผมสมัยนั้นมาก  ยอมรับเลย

ลำพังเงินทานข้าวยังไม่ค่อยจะมีเลย  จะไปเที่ยวเสาะหาของสะสมเหล่านี้

สำหรับกัปตันของผม(และ เดอะค็อปทุกคน)  ผมมักจะได้ยินชื่อเขาหนาหูขึ้นเรื่อยๆ   เมื่อเวลาค่อยๆผ่านไปๆ   สมัยนั้นจำได้ว่า  เจอราดเป็นฮาร์ดแมน  ไล่ตัดเกมไปทั่วสนามปานสุนัขบ้า  ไม่เกรงกลัวใครหน้าไหนทั้งนั้น   ไม่ว่าจะเก่งกาจมาจากไหน เป็นอันต้องจอด   ล้วนต้องอึ้งปนงงงันว่าไอ้เด็กหนุ่มหัวแดงนี้เป็นใคร(หว่า)
